Marriott Hotels and Resorts are out to woo geeks and technology fans who travel with loads of gadgets like camcorders, video iPods, digital cameras, laptops, gaming consoles, etc.
Marriott has introduced gadget-friendly rooms in select properties where hotel guests can connect these digital devices to a 32" LCD HDTV display via a simple auto-detect panel.
You can just plugin your laptop to the panel and edit that Powerpoint Presentation on a large HDTV screen. Or listen to your iPod without requiring a headphone.
The panel also supports split screens (something like PiP) - so you can watch TV programs or play picture slideshows from your digital camera and work on your laptop at the same time.
And if you can't locate those AC power sockets in your room to charge the mobile phone or the tablet, the connectivity panel will take care of that function as well.
This is in addition to Wi-Fi and high-speed internet access available in the room. Marriott is expected to roll out this across all U.S. and Canadian hotel rooms by the end of 2009.
